Silicone Insert & Lock
- Patient's limb should be washed and conditioned every evening AFTER use. Moisturizers with Aloe or Vitamin E may be used to keep the skin healthy. Avoid using any lotions prior to applying your insert.
- The silicone insert should be washed thoroughly with soap and water. Water should be as hot as can be tolerated by hand and silicone should be flushed several times to make sure no soap residue remains on the silicone surface. Soap residue can irritate your skin surface if left on silicone.
- Insert should be patted dry and turned right side out after cleaning or when storing the insert. This will help reduce early fatigue of the material and increase the life of the silicone.
- Storing or drying inserts should be to manufacturer's specifications.
- Do not store insert near heat.
- Be careful when donning the insert not to puncture the silicone with the suspension pin.
- When removing the insert to shower or any other activities - Be careful to turn the insert right side out and not to lay the insert on dirty or contaminated surfaces. Remember, germs and bacteria can become trapped between your skin and the silicone. Protect your insert and keep it clean.
- Before using lotions, Vaseline or other lubricants, please check with your Prosthetist, as some can be harmful to the silicone.
